 YITZHAK RABIN: 1922-1995
- The International Aspect -
(Communicated by Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
Jerusalem, 5 November 1995

This evening (Sunday), 5.11.95, the Foreign Ministry's Situation Room has begun making arrangements for the arrival of dignitaries from around the world, who will attend the funeral ceremonies for the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

As of 19:00 hours, Israel time, the list includes 44 kings, presidents and prime ministers; about 40 more countries will be represented by their foreign ministers, other ministers or ambassadors. The entire Foreign Ministry has been organized to assist in dealing with the complex arrangements involved in coordinating the arrival, reception and escort of the foreign delegations, from the moment they arrive until their departure.

Many of Israel's missions abroad report that hundreds of people have visited them, and that political personalities, heads of Jewish communities and ordinary citizens have telephoned to express solidarity with the State of Israel. An unceasing stream of written messages has also been received by the missions and by the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem over the course of the day.

The national flag has been lowered to half-mast at Israel's missions abroad. Close to the time of the funeral, condolence books will be opened at all of Israel's embassies and consulates, and will remain open for the next two days.
